Scanning lasers are devices capable of emitting an electromagnetic pulse (the laser) and receiving the reflected signal, measuring the time interval elapsed and therefore the distance between the instrument and the detected point. The laser beam is deflected by means of a mechanism of rotating and oscillating mirrors that, with the variation of the azimuth and zenith angle, illuminates the ground in contiguous points. This system works by measuring even tens of thousands of points per second, forming "point clouds". For each measurement (x,y,z), the system provides the intensity of the return signal, describing the surface of the scanned object
